Structured Products Europe Awards

Raiffeisen Centrobank again Nr. 1 issuer of certificates in Central and Eastern Europe

Vienna/London – Last week, the leading European industry magazine Structured Products Magazine invited to the coveted annual Structured Products Awards in London.

For the sixth time and for the third consecutive year, Raiffeisen Centrobank (RCB) won the honourable category “Best in CEE”. Heike Arbter, Managing Director and Head of Structured Products at RCB, is pleased to have received this international award: “Certificates provide an attractive investment alternative in the current interest environment. We at RCB started to build up a respective market for those instruments more than ten years ago in the CEE region and ever since work intensely to make the advantages of this asset category usable for both investors as well as for customer service representatives. To see that our efforts yield fruits and more and more people invest in certificates is one way of measuring our success. To receive the most important industry prize again is certainly another way of measuring it and a great incentive to continue the work on our certificates with verve and engagement”, underlines Arbter.

RCB clearly convinced as innovation leader

The fact that RCB impressively defended its reputation as an innovation leader in numerous markets in the CEE region in the past twelve months was a convincing argument for the award jury. The first listing of warrants at Bucharest Stock Exchange, the introduction of RCB shark notes at Warsaw Stock Exchange and the issuing of the Brexit Best Entry Bonus Certificate in Slovakia, Czechia, Romania and Hungary are some of the most prominent examples therefore. The last product mentioned allowed investors to benefit from one of the most turbulent market phases in 2016.

Figures speak for themselves: high increase in open interest

Also convincing for the Structured Products Awards jury proved the significant increases in terms of open interest. Since the beginning of the year, the Austrian based issuing house of certificates saw an increase of 14 per cent throughout the CEE region, whereby the most striking figures are reported from Poland, the biggest market for certificates in the region, with almost 24 per cent, Romania with 34 per cent and Slovakia with 40 per cent. Altogether the growth rates signal an enormous rise in the demand for RCB certificates.
