First Romanian Investors’ Day in Stockholm

First Romanian Investors’ Day in Stockholm

Steadily increasing investors’ interest towards Romanian listed companies not only in Europe, but also in the USA.

Following the increasing interest for Romania in recent years, Raiffeisen Centrobank AG (RCB) and Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) organized the first dedicated Romanian investors’ day in Stockholm on 18 October 2018, where five Romanian companies presented their investment story to local investors. This one-day event offered a unique opportunity to the investors to meet top Romanian companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange on a one-on-one basis.

Adrian Tanase, BVB CEO, stated, "We are committed to extend our reach for new investors in the Romanian capital market, and the Nordic experience shows that good financial return, long term value creation and corporate governance are key factors for portfolio investment decisions."

Ozgur Guyuldar, Head of Emerging Markets Sales & Sales Trading at RCB, emphasized the importance of the Romanian capital market for the Raiffeisen Banking Group strategy and the entire European region: "We see steadily increasing investors’ interest towards Romanian listed companies not only in Europe, but also in the USA. We acknowledge the potential of this market; therefore we are delighted to present new opportunities for corporate access activities and to build business relations with Romanian corporates and Romanian capital market representatives."

Ionut Mastacaneanu, Tax Director at KPMG in Romania also participated in the event and explained, “The Romanian tax environment facilitates the access of foreign investors to the local capital market, as they can benefit of the extended double tax treaties network Romania has in place (over 90 treaties), as well as of a reduced domestic withholding tax rate applicable to dividend payments (5%). Still, the long-term stability and predictability of the tax legislation, as well as minimizing the tax compliance procedures, are key for attracting new investment flows.”

According to RCB, the Romanian capital market has achieved great progress in recent years. "The market infrastructure has been adapted and developed in order to meet sophisticated demands from international clients. We have gathered the positive feedback from institutional investors, both domestic and foreign, and will therefore continue our extensive marketing and promotion of Romanian companies, through roadshows and various investors’ events for a variety of institutional investors," added Ozgur Guyuldar.
