Press Information

  • Overall Winner of the Certificates Award Austria for the 14th time in a row
  • The savings plan based on a bonus certificate selected Innovation of the Year
  • Investor audience clearly decides in favor of RCB in the category Info & Service

Vienna – Raiffeisen Centrobank AG (RCB) asserted itself against national and international competitors for the 14th time in a row and won the overall jury prize at the annual Certificates Award Austria, which was hosted on 22. September 2020 as a digital event for the first time ever. "Customer needs and high-quality product solutions are now, as in the past, the number one priority. How well we accomplishing this is shown by daily customer and bank advisor feedback, but of course also by jury evaluations and awards such as the Certificates Award Austria. Winning the overall prize means a lot to the team and to me, and sets us on a strong path for the future," comments Heike Arbter, member of the RCB board and long-time certificates expert. Together with the Structured Products team, Heike Arber has developed RCB into a leading issuer in Austria and the entire CEE region.

RCB scores as innovator

After winning in the category "Innovation of the Year 2019", RCB was once again able to convince the jury as an innovation driver – this time with the Certificates Savings Plan. The bonus certificate Europa Unlimited, which was awarded “Innovation of the Year 2020”, enables Raiffeisen customers to build up their assets with regular monthly savings amounts. The bonus certificate Europa Unlimited has been available for savings plans for about a year; the barrier was not breached during the corona correction, meaning that the bonus mechanism and the associated earnings opportunities are fully intact. RCB was the first issuer in Europe to make bonus certificates, which have been tried and tested investment products for decades, eligible for savings – and without a term limit. "Seeing that our innovative strength is coming to fruition and more and more people are investing in certificates are the true measures of our success. In addition, being awarded the innovation prize once again is a huge incentive to continue to push our innovative strength forward," says Philipp Arnold, Head of Structured Products Sales.

Successful in many product categories

In five of the ten award categories, RCB was able to secure top rankings and win over the 23 jury members with its exciting products. In the categories "bonus certificates", "primary market" and "secondary market", the first place was successfully upheld by RCB.

Audience Award: RCB best issuer in the "Info & Service" category 2020

The fact that RCB was not only able to convince with the expert jury but also the public is shown by the first place in the audience award, which once again focused on the topic "Info & Service". In a public online vote, the issuer which contributed the most to the development of the certificates market was chosen. "For years now, many investors have been able to take advantage of the ability to place buy/sell orders online – be it to trade on short-term market movements, hedge portfolios or take advantage of entry opportunities in the medium or longer term with risk-reducing certificates. And this trend has intensified significantly in recent months. The expansion of our knowledge section on www.rcb.at, new website tools such as the inflation calculator and our strong focus on giving advisors and investors an understanding of how certificates work, were convincing arguments for the audience," said Arnold about RCB's capabilities in the "Info & Service" section.

Jury vote

As in previous years, the event was hosted by Zertifikate Forum Austria (the Austrian association of certificate issuers) together with its partner publication ZertifikateJournal. In addition to RCB, nine other national and international issuers submitted their products and had them assessed by an independent jury. The 23-strong, expert jury consisted of asset managers, retail bankers, online brokers and financial journalists. The objectivity and independence of the evaluation and voting process were reviewed and confirmed by EY Austria.
